Position Summary
As our Legal Secretary, you'll be a key support to our attorneys, handling a range of administrative and case management tasks. This role combines client interaction, detailed document preparation, and organizational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, proofread, and format crucial legal documents for criminal and civil cases (e.g., pleadings, subpoenas, briefs)
- Manage attorney calendars: schedule client meetings, court dates, and critical deadlines
- Communicate with clients and legal personnel professionally, handling phone calls, emails, and correspondence
- E-file legal documents and ensure court deadlines are met
- Assist attorneys by conducting basic legal research for case preparation
- Maintain organized case files and support document management and retrieval
- Handle billing, time entries, and other administrative tasks to keep operations running smoothly
What You Bring
- Proven experience as a Legal Secretary, ideally in criminal and civil law
- Familiarity with legal terminology and procedures
- Strong tech skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal software (like Clio or MyCase)
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Detail-oriented, with excellent organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and handle sensitive information discreetly
- Knowledge of local court systems and e-filing processes is a plus!
