Location: Allen, TX
Salary: DOE
Schedule: Mon-Fri 9AM-5PM. Start time can be flexible.
- Once trained it will be a hybrid position, can work up to 2 days at home, and 3 days in office.
Express Employment Professionals is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for a direct hire role in Allen, TX. The client is a MEP design firm specializing in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering, as well as project management and commissioning services.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a talented Mechanical Engineer, PE with at least 5 years of experience in mechanical and plumbing system design for various industries including commercial, mission-critical, communications, and government projects. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in system design, energy compliance, and construction administration, as well as proficiency with CAD, Revit, and engineering software.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design of mechanical and plumbing systems for a wide range of projects, ensuring compliance with codes and client specifications.
- Conduct site visits to verify existing conditions and document systems for retrofits or new installations.
- Collaborate with other departments (architectural, electrical, etc.) to ensure seamless integration of mechanical/plumbing systems across all design phases.
- CAD/REVIT Documentation: Utilize AutoCAD and Revit to prepare detailed design drawings, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Select and specify mechanical equipment, including HVAC systems, pumps, diffusers, and other components, using catalogs and software. Prepare equipment schedules and basis of design documentation.
- Perform energy code compliance calculations, energy modeling for LEED certification, and conduct load calculations for heating, cooling, exhaust, and ventilation systems.
- Assist with the construction phase by reviewing submittals, responding to RFIs, and preparing change orders. Conduct site visits and produce observation reports and punch lists.
- Communicate with vendors to select equipment and ensure timely project delivery. Liaise with clients and contractors to address design and construction issues.
- Prepare detailed project specifications, flow diagrams, control sequences, and other technical documents.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience, with a focus on MEP system design and construction administration.
Skills & Expertise:
- Expertise in AutoCAD, Revit, Microsoft Office, and Bluebeam.
- Proficient in energy modeling and load analysis software (e.g., HAP, Trace 700).
- Strong knowledge of mechanical equipment selection and system sizing (HVAC, plumbing, hydronic, fuel oil, etc.).
- In-depth understanding of building codes and industry standards.
- Experience in MEANS for construction cost estimates.
- Ability to optimize designs to meet energy standards, client expectations, and budget constraints.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently through all stages of design.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills to manage multiple stakeholders.
