Job Full Description
Job Purpose:
Testing and Quality Control for all control panels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pull-test all wires to verify a good connection.
- Make sure that all wires are labeled correctly.
- Make sure that all fuses are correct according to design standards.
- Make sure that there are no wire frays.
- Check all components to verify part numbers, sizes, and voltages.
- Apply the required voltage and verify that all components operate correctly.
- UL List panels that have met UL requirements via the schematic designer.
- Apply all identification stickers and UL stickers to control panel(s).
- Fill out all checklists supplied with drawings for your department and verify that the Wiring and Layout checklists have been completed as well.
- Ensure all panels meet or exceed quality standards before moving the panel to the Shipping Department.
- If there are any “Loose Parts” required to ship with the panel ensure they are clearly labeled.
- Return all unused or extra parts to the Layout Department for return.
- Ensure the job(s) have been moved to the correct department in I-PReP at the beginning and end of the Quality Control & Testing process.
- Log all time spent on each job into the Epicor database using the traveler supplied with the drawings.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- 2 years prior experience preferred

Hard Skills:
- AC/DC circuits: Needs a fundamental knowledge of AC/DC circuits and the difference between the two. This person needs to understand Kirchhoff’s law and apply it to power and control circuits.
- Ohms and Watt’s Law: Must be able to calculate and have a basic understanding of Ohms and Watt’s Law.
- NEC and UL508A: Needs to have the ability to look up and understand NEC and UL508A rules and apply them to industrial control panels.
- PLC: Needs to understand PLC hardware basics and understand basic PLC ladder logic.
- Motor Controls and Automation: Needs to understand advanced motor controls and automation systems. Troubleshooting improperly working circuits is required. A firm understanding of closed-loop control and individual components in that loop is also needed. Process controller programming and setup are also required. Must be able to read the sequence of operations for timers and counters and apply them to control panels.
- AC/DC Drives: Needs a fundamental knowledge of AC/DC drives. Ability to set up various basic and advanced drives required.
- Motors: Needs to understand how different AC, DC, and Servo motors work.
- Transformers: Needs to understand how to make connections for various application needs.
- Multi-meter use: Needs to understand how to use a digital multimeter to check various electrical readings, i.e., voltage, resistance, continuity, etc.
- This position requires a significant amount of bending, lifting, and standing.
- Basic computer skills
