Packaging / Process Engineer

Position Summary

The Senior Process Engineer will work as part of the applications team to help support our client in development of chip/wafer bonding and nano-imprint lithography technologies, with an emphasis on process development, defect characterization/mitigation, and metrology support. This will include working directly with customers on their applications using in-house tools and technologies. The Senior Process Engineer will focus on customer application related materials choices, process issues, general tool use support, and metrology support. The Senior Process Engineer will also develop in-house imprinting process related intellectual property.

 

Essential Functions

1.      Process development and optimization for proprietary chip/wafer bonding and nano-imprint lithography technologies

2.      Design, execute, analyze, and report on experiments

3.      Operate wafer inspection systems and various metrology tools. Perform equipment maintenance on imprint and metrology tools.

4.      Work closely with internal and external teams and customers to develop, communicate, and implement defect reduction strategies

5.      Coordinate and qualify in-house imprints tools and technologies as they relate to specific customer applications

6.      Develop teamwork with customers

7.      Generate IP and patents

8.      Willing and capable of travel up to 10%

Qualifications

Education:

§  M.S. or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or other relevant engineering or physical science discipline. B.S degree with extensive relevant experience (>10 years) might be considered.

Experience:

§  3 years hands on experience in semiconductor processing or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through a combination of education, training, and experience

§  Experience in wafer / chip bonding or similar packaging technologies required

§  Strong research and development experience in new areas is a plus (previous patents for example)

§  Demonstrated success in project ownership and moving technical concepts forward into production is a strong positive

§  First author on papers and previous IP generation is also a strong positive

§  Must show strong imitative and willing to set and implement strategy for this project

§  Hands on experience building, using, and troubleshooting prototype lab equipment

§  Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills required

§  Demonstrated strong organizational skills and ability to multitask

§  Experiment design (DOE) and statistics
