Job Full Description
Express has a client with immediate opening for (3) welders in a fabrication shop. We have both day and night shifts available. You must pass a 3G SMAW weld test to be considered for the position.
The primary responsibility is to perform welding tasks related to the fabrication of heat exchangers in a manufacturing environment. Your duties may include:
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and welding procedures to understand welding requirements.
- Selecting appropriate materials, such as metal alloys and filler metals, based on welding specifications.
- Preparing materials for welding by cleaning, beveling, and aligning components as necessary.
- Setting up and operating welding equipment to perform welding on heat exchanger components, ensuring proper penetration, fusion, and bead appearance.
- Conducting visual inspections of welded joints to verify weld quality and adherence to welding procedures.
- Performing non-destructive testing (NDT) methods, such as visual inspection, to assess weld quality and integrity.
- Repairing weld defects or discontinuities as necessary, following established repair procedures.
- Maintaining welding equipment in good working condition and performing routine maintenance as required.
- Following safety procedures and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
- Adhering to project schedules and deadlines to meet production goals.
- Collaborating with other team members, including welders, fabricators, and supervisors, to ensure successful completion of projects.
- Participating in welder qualification tests as required and passing the SMAW welding test to demonstrate proficiency.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification or proven experience in welding.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols.
- Knowledge of welding procedures, techniques, and metallurgy related to heat exchanger fabrication.
- Experience in welding various metals, including carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloys.
- Ability to perform welds with high accuracy and quality, meeting specified standards and tolerances.
- Familiarity with welding codes and standards, such as AWS D1.1 and ASME Section IX.
- Strong attention to detail and quality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Effective communication skills.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to perform welding tasks in a shop environment.
- Willingness to undergo periodic welder qualification tests and training as required.
Note: Passing the SMAW welding test is a prerequisite for this position.
