Job Summary:
The Boat Sales Porter is responsible for the preparation, transportation, and overall care of boats within the dealership. This role includes ensuring boats are clean, presentable, and properly positioned for customer viewing and delivery. The porter supports the sales and technician teams by moving boats to and from the sales floor, storage areas, and service departments as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clean, detail, and perform light maintenance on boats to ensure they are showroom-ready.
- Inspect boats for any damage or necessary repairs before they are presented to customers.
- Ensure all safety equipment, paperwork, and accessories are properly stored and organized within the boats.
- Safely transport boats within the dealership property, between storage areas, sales floor, and service departments.
- Position boats in the showroom, ensuring they are displayed attractively and safely.
- Greet customers courteously and provide assistance with questions or directions within the dealership.
- Assist with the delivery process by moving boats to designated areas for customer pick-up.
- Keep track of boat inventory, noting the location and status of each vessel.
- Report any discrepancies or damages to the sales or service departments.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sales lot, showroom, and storage areas.
- Assist with general facility maintenance tasks as needed, such as trash removal and minor repairs.
Experience:
- Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in a marine or automotive environment.
- Familiarity with boat types, features, and basic marine terminology is a plus.
- Ability to safely operate boats and towing equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Physical ability to lift heavy objects and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
