Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Automotive Paint Specialist to join our team. This individual will be responsible for applying high-quality paint finishes to vehicles, ensuring that all work meets the shop’s standards for durability, color accuracy, and aesthetic appeal. The ideal candidate should have strong attention to detail, experience in automotive painting techniques, and a commitment to delivering excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

 Vehicle Preparation:

  • Prepare vehicles for painting by cleaning, sanding, and masking parts that do not require painting.
  • Inspect vehicles for any dents, scratches, or other imperfections that need to be repaired prior to painting.
  • Apply primers, fillers, and base coats as necessary to ensure smooth and consistent finishes.

  Painting & Refinishing:

  • Mix and apply automotive paints, including base coats, clear coats, and specialized finishes.
  • Use a variety of spray guns and equipment to apply coatings evenly and efficiently.
  • Match and blend paint colors to the manufacturer's specifications or customer preferences.
  • Ensure that paint layers are even, free of imperfections, and properly cured to achieve a durable and high-quality finish.

 Inspection & Quality Control:

  • Inspect the finished paint job for quality and consistency, ensuring it meets shop standards and customer expectations.
  • Perform touch-ups and corrections on any areas that do not meet quality standards.

Equipment Maintenance:

  • Maintain and clean painting equipment, including spray guns, mixing tools, and other equipment.
  • Ensure that all tools are in good working condition and perform routine maintenance on equipment as needed.

 Collaboration & Customer Service:

  • Work closely with body technicians to ensure proper preparation and refinishing processes.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and team members to understand color preferences and project specifications.

 

Customer Service:

  • Provide friendly, efficient service to customers and answer any questions regarding tire and lube services.
  • Advise customers on tire and fluid maintenance to ensure vehicle performance and safety.
  • Work to build customer relationships through positive interactions and professional service.

General Maintenance and Safety:

  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including the tire and lube bays, tools, and equipment.
  • Ensure all safety protocols are followed, including the proper use of equipment and protective gear.
  • Assist with inventory control and stocking of necessary parts and supplies

Requirements

Proven experience as an automotive painter or paint specialist, preferably in an auto body or collision repair shop.

Knowledge of automotive paint products, mixing techniques, and application methods.

Familiarity with spray painting equipment, tools, and safety procedures.

Ability to match paint colors accurately and achieve a high-quality finish.

Strong attention to detail, with the ability to identify and correct paint imperfections.

Good communication and customer service skills.

 Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.

 High school diploma or equivalent (additional certification in automotive painting or related fields is a plus).

 

Pay Rate $10 – $14/Hour, based on experience
