Job Summary & Essential Functions: 

The Pattern Maker position is responsible for reviewing, making, rigging and adjusting patterns for molds in a safe, predictive, and productive processes in a steel foundry located in Longview, TX. This position is a day shift and pays $24.84-$26.59 per hour.  Company offers medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and short term disability.  This is a direct hire position. • Layout, construct, alter, and repair patterns and core boxes                                                                       
• Determine from drawings or sketches the dimensions, shapes, and relative locations of patterns and rigging to be fabricated and mounted to a pattern board.
• Select the grade, type, and size of wood best suited for the job, as to grain hardness, and workability.
• Set up and operate a variety of wood working machines to cut and form material into intricate shapes.
• Build wood patterns in accordance with established principles of pattern making and molding practices, allowing for shrinkage, finish, cooling stresses, and location of core prints.   
• Fit, finish, and assemble component parts of a pattern using fasteners and adhesives
• Mount patterns to pattern boards.
• Repair or modify patterns and core boxes (as required).
• Work to close tolerances (usually +/-  1/64")
• Construct templates for checking castings (as required).
• Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision
• Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas
• Follow directions of supervisor
• Performs miscellaneous duties as required.

Preferred Experience / Education / Training / Certifications:

• High School Diploma (or equivalent)

 

Physical Demands (reasonable accommodations may be made, if necessary):

 

• Wear the required safety equipment properly, for at least 8 hrs/day without duress
• Manually lift to 60 lbs (anything over 60 lbs requires 2 people to lift)
• Stand and walk on concrete and/or foundry sand for a minimum of 8 hrs/day
