Available: Monday-Friday 8a-5p

The Processing Technician is responsible for working as part of a team to provide cotton processing and data for cotton breeding activities.

 

Responsibilities and duties:

• Accurately weigh and record seed and fiber samples for processing using computer-based systems.
• Prep material for ginning, bagging and delinting.
• Safely operate cotton gins and burr extractors.
• Bag and label samples by batch and organize into appropriate storage areas.
• Count seed by hand and with automated counters.
• Maintain a clean work environment and abide by all OSHA safety standards No allergies or breathing issues.

 

Required skills and experience:

• Basic computer experience preferred, on the job training provided for technical equipment.
• Able to read weights and do simple calculations.
• Ability to lift 25-50lbs.
• Be able to stand at a ginning station for prolonged periods of time.
