Human Resources Generalist
Pharr, TX
M-F 8am-5pm
$13-$15/hour
As a Human Resources Generalist, you will play a critical role in supporting our employees and management team, ensuring compliance with HR policies and procedures, and contributing to the overall success of our organization. Will be a proactive and dedicated HR professional with a passion for fostering a positive work environment in a fast-paced, collaborative setting and possess a comprehensive understanding of HR functions.
Duties and Responsibilities - include but are not limited to the following:
- Provides support for the owners of the company, managers at the restaurants, finance department, operations department and HR Department.
- Maintains a positive working environment while following company core values.
- Assists in compliance with provisions and regulations under COBRA, HIPAA, OSHA, Workers' Compensation, FMLA.
- Recruits personnel, conducts pre-screening interviews, interviews, makes hiring recommendations and follows up.
- Audits and files all employee-related documents.
- Support on completing the entire employee life cycle in all related systems.
- Support on keeping up to date phone logs and master spreadsheets, and other reports as assigned.
- Responsible for setting up initial new hire personnel files and maintaining all personnel files, ensuring required documentation is filed and updated.
- Ensures timely responses to employer verifications.
- Manages the record retention process for terminated personnel files.
- Assists with reporting and documenting probationary employee evaluations and required annual staff evaluations.
- Coordinates new employee orientation regarding policies and documents policy and procedure changes.
- Assists with planning and coordinating the welfare plans’ annual open enrollment.
- Supports restaurants by maintaining office and company policies, employee files, discipline, recruiting, onboarding, and other necessary procedures.
- Handles internal inquiries and employee questions related to paystubs, policies, procedures, and the employee handbook.
- Supports the employee retention program.
- Supports central office kitchen staff time clocking and corresponding payroll.
- Responsible for generating the birthdates and anniversary reports to the Operations team.
- Keep track of uniform distribution and uniform agreement forms signed by the employees.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Human Resources Director.
Qualifications and Requirements:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Bachelor's degree in business or related field is preferred but not required
- Previous Human Resources experience required
- Very strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills are essential
- Takes ownership of job responsibilities with personal pride and accountability
- Experience with multiple locations and/or departments preferred but not required
- Ability to work independently with little supervision required
- Ability to remain calm while working under pressure in a busy environment
- Ability to work within time frame of standard policies and procedures and not miss deadlines/due dates
- Ability to maintain confidentiality related to sensitive company and employee information
- Excellent ability to multitask, prioritize, and problem solve in a busy, fast paced environment
- Excellent time, leadership, and management skills
- Efficient in handling a wide range of administrative and executive support related tasks
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
