Air Import Agent
McAllen, TX
Mon-Fri 8am-5pm; 8:30am-5:30pm

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Air Import Agent to manage and coordinate air freight shipments efficiently. This role involves handling documentation, liaising with customs authorities, coordinating with carriers, and ensuring smooth cargo movement from origin to destination. The ideal candidate has experience in air freight operations, strong communication skills, and a deep understanding of import regulations and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Import Operations & Coordination:
- Coordinate air import shipments from booking to final delivery.
- Communicate with airlines, freight forwarders, and handling agents to ensure timely cargo movement.
- Monitor shipment status and provide real-time updates to customers.
- Ensure compliance with international import regulations, customs procedures, and company policies.
Documentation & Compliance:
- Prepare and process import documentation, including airway bills, commercial invoices, and customs declarations.
- Work closely with customs brokers to ensure proper clearance of imported goods.
- Verify accuracy of shipment details and documentation to prevent delays.
- Maintain records of shipments, including tracking information and cost data.
Customer Service & Relationship Management:
- Serve as the main point of contact for customers regarding shipment status, pricing, and any issues.
- Address customer inquiries and resolve any shipment-related concerns promptly.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, carriers, and suppliers.
Billing & Financial Responsibilities:
- Coordinate invoices and ensure accurate billing of air import shipments.
- Assist in managing shipment costs, including freight charges, customs duties, and tariffs.
- Review and reconcile accounts payable and receivable related to air imports.
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in air freight, logistics, or import operations.
- Strong knowledge of customs regulations, import documentation, and international trade compliance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Bilingual (Spanish and English)
Preferred:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, logistics, or a related field.
- Experience with freight forwarding software and tracking systems.
- Familiarity with CBP (Customs and Border Protection) regulations.
Additional Information:
- Some overtime or weekend work may be required based on shipment schedules.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team.
