Our client is looking for a cook responsible for preparing and cooking meals in large quantities according to standardized recipes, adhering to strict food safety guidelines, operating commercial kitchen equipment, maintaining a clean and sanitary workspace, and serving food to students and staff in a timely manner, all while prioritizing nutritional balance and student dietary needs

 

Summary:
  • Prepare and cook a variety of meals in large quantities following established recipes and nutritional guidelines to ensure students receive healthy and balanced meals. 
     
  • Operate commercial kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, grills, fryers, steamers, and mixing machines. 
     
  • Maintain proper food handling practices, including proper storage, rotation, and temperature control to prevent foodborne illness. 
     
  • Follow sanitation procedures to maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen workspace. 
     
  • Assist in inventory management and food ordering to ensure adequate supplies are available 
     
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Food Preparation:
    • Prepare ingredients by washing, chopping, slicing, and measuring according to recipes. 
       
    • Cook a variety of dishes including meats, vegetables, grains, and desserts following established recipes and portion sizes. 
       
    • Bake, roast, grill, steam, and fry food items as needed. 
       
    • Ensure food is cooked to proper temperatures for food safety. 
       
  • Food Service:
    • Set up serving lines and ensure food is displayed attractively and labeled accurately. 
       
    • Serve meals to students and staff in a timely and efficient manner. 
       
    • Monitor food quality and address any concerns regarding taste or presentation. 
       
  • Kitchen Maintenance:
    • Clean and sanitize all kitchen equipment, utensils, and work surfaces after each use. 
       
    • Follow proper cleaning procedures for commercial kitchen appliances. 
       
    • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area 
       
  • Compliance:
    • Adhere to all local, state, and federal food safety regulations. 
       
    • Follow school district policies and procedures regarding meal planning and dietary restrictions 
       
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a commercial kitchen setting preferred
  • Basic culinary skills, including knife handling and cooking techniques
  • Ability to read and follow recipes
  • Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation procedures
