Job Full Description
One of the top cities in Williamson County is seeking a Utility Operator to help operate and maintain its water distribution system. Key responsibilities for this position include repairing leaks and performing maintenance on various parts of the water system. You'll also have the chance to learn how to operate machinery such as backhoes, dump trucks, and more. Join us and advance your career in a supportive and growth-oriented environment.
Work schedule: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday
Pay rate: $18.00 -$22.00/hour, depending on experience
Job highlights:
- Repair water and sewer leaks by digging holes and trenches, using backhoes and other equipment, and placing necessary shoring
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on water and sewer lines by unclogging lines using hydro-jets, routers, and hand tools, exercising and/or replacing valves, repairing lift station pumps, testing for low water pressure
- Perform utility line locates
- Perform leak site dress-up
- Run new main feeders and service lines
- Read and maintain various flow meters, water interconnects, meters/gauges at lift stations, water booster stations, and other utility appurtenances
- Repair water lines in city buildings
- Maintain grounds at field operations, lift stations, booster stations, plants, and other facilities
- Perform chlorine tests on new lines
- Clear brush, trees, and other road debris from city streets and place barricades at low water crossing during heavy rains
What we’re looking for:
- Ability to enter confined spaces
- Experience in the Construction field
- Ability to work outside for most of the day.
- Wiliness to learn to operate a backhoe, dump truck, pump truck, hydro-jet, hand and power tools
- Ability to give and follow clear instructions
- Good communication skills
- Punctual, reliable, dependable
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Driver's License (C)
