Express Employment Professionals has partnered with a leading Mechanical Services company in Round Rock to hire a Payroll/HR Specialist! This team is proud to live and work in Central Texas and is committed to providing outstanding service to their clients and employees alike. With several hundred employees on the payroll, they are looking for an accurate and efficient individual to handle payroll duties. This is a great opportunity for growth with a company that is expanding rapidly in a dynamic industry.
The company is currently processing payroll in-house but will transition to the ADP payroll system within 2–3 months. Experience with ADP is highly preferred, as the new hire will help ensure a smooth transition. The position involves handling various payroll-related responsibilities, with the opportunity to take on additional tasks based on strengths and workload.
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Pay Rate: $20.00-$25.00/hour, depending on experience
What We’re Looking For:
- At least 1 year of experience in prevailing wage payroll processing is preferred.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Basic understanding of accounting principles, reimbursements, and per diems.
- Highly accurate data entry skills and excellent attention to detail.
- Dependable attendance and a strong work ethic are essential.
- The ability to learn from mistakes and adapt to new challenges independently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process weekly payroll accurately and efficiently.
- Conduct payroll audits, reviewing data entry to identify and correct errors.
- Assist with the transition of payroll to the ADP system, including training and adaptation.
- Collect and organize timesheet approvals from employees.
- Maintain employee confidence by providing payroll-related instructions (e.g., how to enter timesheets, how to access pay statements online).
- Verify and track PTO usage and availability during payroll processing.
- Correct any missing job numbers or cost codes.
- Enter manual timesheets and other payroll-related data.
- Calculate wage garnishments, reimbursements, and per diems.
- Support HR with new hire onboarding and terminations, including offer letters, background checks, and drug testing.
- Build and run custom payroll reports as requested.
- Balance hours, deductions, and expense reports during payroll.
- Handle clerical duties, including scanning, filing, and faxing, to maintain office efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with Texas New Hire Reporting and other regulatory requirements.
Additional Skills and Preferences:
- Experience with ZOHO software is a plus.
- Familiarity with certified payroll for prevailing wage jobs.
- Knowledge of OCIP (Owner-Controlled Insurance Program) monthly payroll reporting.
- Strong math skills and critical thinking ability.
