Job Full Description
Our client, a family-owned manufacturing company in Northeast San Antonio is looking for a Welder for a long term, evaluation-hire opportunity. Pay is $18-$21 an hour depending on experience. The company is looking for someone to become part of the family. It’s a great opportunity to join a close-knit community. The job requires both thinking through an assembly/fabrication plan and production welding of multiple products. Duties for the Welder position include:
- Performing MIG/TIG welding to fabricate/assemble heavy equipment
- Prepare product to be welded by grinding, drilling, milling, tapping and cutting steel or aluminum parts.
- Create quality welds according to blueprints (weld symbols); inspects welds for accuracy.
- Develops working knowledge of dozens of methods used for welding a variety of materials and components.
- Assesses equipment, structures, materials, and job specifications for appropriate welding positions and methods.
- Develop initial set-up of assembly then reproduce the work in production welding setting
Requirements for the Welder position are:
- Physically fit, able to lift up to 50 pounds
- At least 2 years’ experience in welding/fabrication
- Requires own equipment to include small hand tools and measuring equipment
- Perform first item and in-process inspections for accept/reject and annotate the Work Order travelers as required.
- High school education and/or formal training through a vocational or technical school
