Job Full Description
Key Responsibilities of a Railroad Flagger:

Traffic Control: The flagger ensures that vehicles and pedestrians safely navigate around work zones. This may involve stopping traffic, directing it around hazards, or guiding vehicles to avoid dangerous situations.

Flagging for Train Movement: In some cases, flaggers will be positioned near tracks to signal train crews about track conditions, especially if work is happening nearby or if a train needs to stop for safety reasons.

Safety and Communication: They must communicate clearly and effectively with both railroad workers and the general public. This may involve using hand signals, flags, or radios.

Monitoring Work Zones: Flaggers keep an eye on the work area to ensure safety protocols are followed, such as ensuring workers stay clear of live tracks.

Ensuring Safe Passage: If necessary, flaggers help manage the timing of when it is safe for trains or vehicles to pass, ensuring there’s no conflict between moving vehicles or trains and the work zone.
