Onboarding Specialist- $18-$20/hr
A local trucking company near the Greenpoint area in Houston, TX is searching for a Onboarding Specialist to assist in daily operations. This is a temp-hire position in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities:
- Manage the entire onboarding process for new hires, ensuring a seamless and positive experience
- Develop and implement onboarding plans for each new hire, including coordinating with hiring managers to determine individualized training needs
- Prepare and distribute new hire paperwork, including employment agreements, benefits information, and tax forms
- Conduct new hire orientations, providing an overview of company policies, culture, and expectations
- Coordinate training for new hires, including scheduling and tracking completion of required courses and programs
- Serve as the main point of contact for new hires during the onboarding process, answering questions and providing support as needed
- Work closely with HR and hiring managers to ensure that all new hires have the necessary resources, equipment, and access to company systems and tools
- Transfer data from paper formats into computer files or database systems using keyboards, data recorders, or optical scanners
- Type in the data provided
- Create spreadsheets with large numbers of figures without mistakes
- Verify data by comparing it to source documents
- Update existing data
- Retrieve data from the database or electronic files as requested
- Perform regular backups to ensure data preservation
- Sort and organize paperwork after entering data to ensure it is not lost
Skills & experience:
- Proven experience as a data entry clerk, auditor and/or human resources
- Experience working with the trucking industry is a plus.
- Fast typing skills: Knowledge of touch typing system is strongly preferred
- Excellent knowledge of word processing tools and spreadsheets (MS Office Word, Excel, etc.)
- Working knowledge of office equipment and computer hardware and peripheral devices
- Basic understanding of databases
- Good command of English both oral and written and customer service skills
- Great attention to detail
- High school degree or equivalent
