Job Full Description
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CNC Machinist / Laser Operator to join our production team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining CNC machinery and laser cutting systems to fabricate precision parts and components. This role requires a deep understanding of machining processes, blueprint reading, and the ability to work with various materials. The successful candidate will ensure parts are produced to specification, on time, and meet high-quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up, operate, and program CNC machines (mills, lathes, routers) to manufacture high-precision parts based on engineering drawings.
- Operate and program laser cutting systems to cut, engrave, and etch materials (metal, plastic, and composites) as required.
- Monitor machine performance, making necessary adjustments for optimal results.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD/CAM files to ensure parts meet dimensional specifications.
- Inspect finished products using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.).
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring that tools and machines are properly stored and maintained.
- Collaborate with other team members to meet production goals and troubleshoot machining issues.
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on CNC machines and laser equipment.
- Ensure safety protocols are followed, including wearing proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhering to all safety standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to machine performance, tooling, or materials.
- Conduct quality checks throughout the production process to ensure high-quality standards are met.
- Follow all work instructions, company policies, and safety procedures.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (technical certifications or training preferred).
- Proven experience as a CNC Machinist and/or Laser Operator (minimum 2-3 years preferred).
- Proficient in CNC machine operation and programming (knowledge of G-code, CAM software, etc.).
- Familiarity with laser cutting and engraving machines, including maintenance and programming.
- Strong understanding of machining techniques, materials, and tooling.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Experience with quality control and inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.).
- Excellent attention to detail and precision.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.) and work in a manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with multi-axis CNC machines.
- Knowledge of CAD/CAM software for programming.
- Familiarity with different material types (metals, plastics, etc.) and their behavior in machining and laser cutting processes.
