Job Title: Ground Technician (Ground Maintenance & Cleaning)

Location: Salt Lake City 

Job Type: Full-Time 40 hours/week

Job Overview: We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Ground Technician to maintain and ensure the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of the ground areas. This position involves cleaning and organizing ground areas, removing debris and garbage, managing ice and snow removal, and ensuring the proper upkeep of outdoor spaces. The ideal candidate will be proactive in addressing ground maintenance tasks, ensuring a safe, clean, and well-maintained environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ground Cleaning & Maintenance:

    • Regularly inspect and clean ground areas, including sidewalks, parking lots, and open spaces, ensuring they are free from debris, litter, and obstacles.
    • Collect and dispose of garbage and waste throughout the property.

  • Ice & Snow Removal:

    • Monitor weather conditions and remove ice and snow from walkways, parking lots, and other high-traffic areas to maintain safety.
    • Use proper tools and equipment such as snow blowers, shovels, and salt spreaders for efficient ice and snow removal.

  • Ground Upkeep:

    • Maintain grass, shrubs, and other landscaping elements by performing light trimming and weeding as needed.
    • Ensure proper drainage and prevent any flooding issues around the grounds.

  • Safety Compliance:

    • Ensure that all maintenance and cleaning activities are carried out in compliance with safety standards.
    • Report any hazards, such as unsafe conditions or damage to property, to the appropriate supervisor.

  • Equipment Maintenance:

    • Maintain and care for equipment and tools used in cleaning, maintenance, and snow removal, ensuring they are in good working condition.

  • Seasonal Tasks:

    • Assist with seasonal preparation, such as fall leaf clean-up and ensuring proper spring ground care after snow and ice removal.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in groundskeeping, maintenance, or similar outdoor labor roles.
  • Ability to operate cleaning and snow removal equipment safely.
  • Knowledge of safety practices and ability to follow established protocols.
  • Physical stamina to lift heavy items, walk or stand for extended periods, and perform manual tasks.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions (rain, snow, heat, etc.)
  • Be able to pass a background check and drug test.

Preferred Skills:

  • Previous experience with snow removal and ice management techniques.
  • Familiarity with basic landscaping tasks (e.g., mowing, weeding, edging).
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to perform tasks such as bending, kneeling, shoveling, and standing for long periods.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions (e.g., cold, heat, rain, snow).
