Job Overview
Busy sole practitioner in Manassas seeking a Full-Time, detail-oriented and motivated Bilingual Paralegal. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of law, particularly representing injured workers in Workers' Compensation claims, and will play a crucial role in supporting attorneys by managing various legal tasks. This position involves handling cases at all stages from initiation through resolution and requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively within a law office environment.
Pay: $23-26/hr
Location: Manassas, VA
Hours: 8:30am-5pm
Responsibilities:
- Gather and review client information including wage information, information about medical treatment and health care providers. Request, obtain and review relevant medical records. Assist in responding to discovery.
- Maintain attorney calendar. Initiate contact with and schedule meetings with client and medical providers.
- Prepare and maintain efficient and organized case records, including correspondence, medical records, and pleadings according to firm procedure and guidelines.
- Monitor deadlines to ensure timely compliance.
- Handle incoming and outgoing calls, mail, email and other communications and appropriately resolve questions in a knowledgeable and efficient manner. Maintain frequent contact with clients.
- Work with minimal supervision, work in a fast paced environment, maintain client confidentiality and follow all firm procedures and guidelines.
- Conduct thorough document review and manage case files using Document Management Systems.
- Assist attorneys in preparing legal documents, including contracts and pleadings.
- Perform legal research to support case preparation and strategy.
- Interview clients and witnesses to gather relevant information for cases.
- Organize and maintain case files, ensuring all documents are accurate and up-to-date.
- Assist in trial preparation by compiling evidence and preparing exhibits.
- Communicate with clients regarding case status and updates.
- Ensure compliance with legal procedures and deadlines.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience, preferably in Workers' Compensation law. Social Security Disability and Personal Injury experience a plus.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) required****
- Must be proficient in MS Word, Microsoft Office and case management system such as Needles Neos. Must be proficient in using electronic filing systems with courts.
- 2 years related paralegal experience
- Adhere to company rules/procedures
- Strong writing skills for drafting legal documents and correspondence.
- Experience with Document Management Systems and document review processes.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent interviewing skills to extract pertinent information from clients and witnesses.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also being self-motivated.
