Lead Carpenter
We are seeking a professional Lead Carpenter with a well-rounded skill set, strong attention to detail, and excellent leadership abilities. The ideal candidate will have solid finishing skills and a clean, professional appearance. Experience with custom construction, remodels, and renovations is a must, as we are experts in these fields. HVAC experience is a plus. We are looking for a motivated team member ready to take on challenging projects.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead Crew and Perform Carpentry Work
- Design, construct, remodel, retrofit, paint, and repair interior and exterior structures (e.g., wood, drywall, plaster, concrete, and brick).
- Build and install cabinets, tables, shelves, benches, partitions, flooring, doors, windows, and furniture.
- Perform installations and repairs of modular furniture, and other structural components.
- Maintain and service tools and equipment, ensuring they are clean and calibrated.
- Respond to routine and emergency calls for repairs and services.
- Procure materials on behalf of the company when required.
- Remove and reinstall toilets, sinks, bathtubs, large appliances, and hardware as needed.
- Document daily activities and submit weekly reports.
- Provide daily status updates to supervisors or team members.
- Project Estimation
- Prepare accurate estimates by gathering and analyzing blueprints, proposals, specifications, and related documents.
- Determine labor, material, and time requirements for projects.
- Compute costs and prepare detailed reports and proposals.
- Present estimates with clear numerical and descriptive information to stakeholders.
- Team Training and Mentorship
- Analyze and determine the training needs of team members based on their skill sets.
- Conduct on-the-job training and foster safe work practices.
- Develop and maintain an effective training program to enhance team efficiency and safety.
Qualifications and Skills
- Proven ability to lead and motivate a team of skilled carpenters and laborers.
- Proficiency in designing, building, installing, and repairing woodwork, flooring, ceilings, and cabinetry.
- Skilled in operating, maintaining, and calibrating carpentry tools and machinery.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and plans.
- Strong ability to estimate project costs, materials, and timelines.
- Adept at performing heavy physical labor and working unsupervised while meeting established deadlines.
- Knowledge of building codes and safety standards in residential, commercial, and industrial settings.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Effective verbal communication skills.
- At least 5 years of carpentry experience, including a leadership role.
- Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record (a driving abstract will be required).
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and perform physical activities such as bending, standing, climbing, stooping, and walking.
- Capability to use manual and power tools safely and effectively.
Additional Notes
To excel in this role, the ideal candidate will be a self-starter, highly motivated, and experienced in the construction or renovation industries. A company van and laptop may be issued to support job responsibilities. Local travel within Mason, Thurston, and Kitsap counties is required.
