Marine Service Ambassador
Overview: Performs a variety of customer service-related duties on Kitsap Transit Ferries’ Docks including, but not limited to: Ensuring that vessels do not exceed maximum passenger capacity, communicating with Kitsap Ferries crew and Kitsap Transit dispatchers, answering questions regarding Kitsap Ferries’ services and policies, and assist passengers with boarding vessel. This position also ensures follow-up is conducted and the supervisor is notified when necessary. All Marine Service Ambassadors will be scheduled at either Bremerton or Kingston location. All applicants must have reliable transportation to get to Kitsap Transit Ferries' Bremerton and Kingston locations. This is a temporary job expected to end on September 27, 2025.
JOB DUTIES:
May include but not limited to the following:
- Assist with passenger count to ensure the vessel does not exceed passenger capacity
- Keep an accurate count of bikes, scooters, and wheelchairs to ensure vessel does not exceed bike/scooter/wheelchair capacity
- Advise passengers regarding Kitsap Ferries' policies and special services
- Assist passengers in staging, boarding, and departing with ferry
- Initial intake of customer complaints and commendations
- Responding to public inquiries
- Follow safety and security procedures in accordance with Kitsap Transit Marine Services policies
- Periodically surveying passengers for comments and suggestions and preparing related reports as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be able to carry items weighing up to 30lbs
- Must be able to walk and/or stand for two hours at a time
- Must be able to work outside in all weather
- Must have excellent customer service skills
- Must be professional in all forms of communication
- Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Must be a self starter
- Proficient with Microsoft Outlook
- Ability to navigate a smart phone
Pay:
$27.39/hour
Schedule:
Bremerton Morning Shift: M-F, 4:00AM-12:00PM & Saturdays 9:00AM-4:00PM
Bremertoon Afternoon Shift: M-F, 1:15PM-9:15PM & Saturdays 5:00PM-11:00PM
Kingston Split Shift: M-F, 4:45AM-9:15AM & 2:15PM-6:15PM.
Applicant must be able to work all hours between 4:00AM and 9:00PM Monday-Friday and various shifts between 9:00AM and 11:00PM on Saturday. Applicant must be able to work split shifts. Schedule may vary from day to day with short notice. Expected hours would be 30-40 hours per week and can change based on the needs of the department. Marine Service Ambassadors work independently and play a critical role in Marine Services' operations, therefore, it is essential that all Marine Service Ambassadors show up for every scheduled shift, as well as arrive on time in all types of weather, including snow.
