Express Employment Professionals of Everett is hiring an Assembly Mechanic III (Senior Assembly Mechanic) for local aerospace company. This is a fulltime, permanent position offering day shift hours.
Successful candidates will have a minimum of 3+ years of related / advanced assembly experience. Pay is $19 - $30 per hour, depending on qualifications.
The Assembly Mechanic III is responsible for producing prototypes and the organization's most complex components. They serve as the Subject Matter Expert and primary personnel to establish manufacturing processes post First Article or Prototype. This role includes training other assembly mechanics, bonding and fabricating complex furniture, providing input into business decisions, driving continuous improvement activities, and supporting the development of work center operating standards in alignment with company and regulatory requirements.
Senior Assembly Mechanic Responsibilities:
- Delegate tasks and problem solve in the absence of the shop lead.
- Partner with engineering, ME, and planning to develop and execute part prototype design.
- Build and bond test articles, complex furniture, and interior major assemblies.
- Lead completion of post FAI customer pickups.
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert in multiple Boeing and Airbus Process Specifications.
- Expertise in all processes within potting and bonding work center (Fill and fair, install insert and edge pot).
- Expert in furniture bonding and assembly.
- Fabricate jigs and fixtures for accurate and repeatable execution of critical fit requirements for components.
- Pre-fit and bond, vacuum bond interior components of varying combinations of material types.
- Form and bond aluminum trim extrusions and sheets, honeycomb panels, and other materials for completion of sub-assemblies, parts, or structures.
- Expert in interior component assembly, custom fabrication of parts, and applying complex décor per finish requirements.
- Perform complex repairs on components as required by the customer.
- Mastery of all shop equipment including drill motors, pneumatic tools, band saws, drill presses, various tool grinders, rivet gun and bucking bar, C-squeeze, ratchet wrench, and nut runner.
- Expert in the use of chemical solvents, sealants, coatings, primers, adhesives, paints, liquid nitrogen, and special finishes.
- Establish work center standard operating procedures.
- Support make/buy decisions in partnership with operations manager and planning.
- Lead continuous improvement activities.
- Ability to interpret electrical and structural part drawings.
- Train and mentor other entry to mid-level assembly mechanic shop personnel.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Experience:
- High School diploma or GED required.
- 5+ years' experience in consuming electrical and structural aerospace/equivalent part drawings.
- 5+ years interpreting, authoring, and executing assembly and component test requirements.
- High level of mechanical and electrical aptitude and knowledge of aerospace or other equivalent industry.
Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to communicate well with others.
- Troubleshooting/problem solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task effectively, and work under pressure.
- Able to perform mathematical calculations, varying in complexity.
- Work from solid models, technical drawings, engineering sketches, and other documentation to produce a variety of prototype and production parts.
- Analyze written specifications, drawings, rough sketches, and verbal instructions to determine operation sequences.
Physical Requirements:
- Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
- Hearing and vision within normal ranges are essential for safe conduct on the manufacturing floor and to meet job responsibilities.
