Job Full Description
Express is seeking a heavy equipment mechanic for a local mill.
Responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining large machinery like excavators, bulldozers, graders, cranes, and loaders, by identifying malfunctions, replacing worn parts, performing overhauls, and ensuring proper functionality through routine maintenance checks, often requiring the use of specialized tools and diagnostic equipment while adhering to safety protocols; they may also travel to different site locations to service equipment.
Must be available to work any shift.
Pay: $25.25/hr
Key responsibilities may include:
Performing thorough visual and operational checks to identify potential issues and wear on components like engines, hydraulic systems, tracks, and electrical systems.
Utilizing diagnostic tools to pinpoint the cause of mechanical problems, including hydraulic leaks, engine failures, electrical faults, and transmission issues.
- Repairing and replacing parts:
Disassembling components, replacing worn or damaged parts like bearings, seals, pistons, and hoses, and reassembling equipment according to manufacturer specifications.
- Performing maintenance tasks:
Completing routine servicing including oil changes, filter replacements, lubrication, and adjustments to ensure optimal performance.
- Overhauling major components:
Performing complete rebuilds of engines, transmissions, and hydraulic systems as needed.
Making minor repairs or modifications to equipment using welding techniques.
Maintaining detailed logs of repairs, parts used, and equipment service history.
- Troubleshooting complex issues:
Analyzing system failures and utilizing technical manuals to identify the root cause of problems.
- Operating shop equipment:
Using specialized tools like lifts, hoists, and test equipment to access and repair components.
Required skills and qualifications:
Strong understanding of diesel engine mechanics, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and heavy equipment operation principles.
Ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues using diagnostic tools and interpret technical data
- Reading blueprints and manuals:
Understanding technical drawings and equipment manuals to perform repairs accurately
Ability to work in demanding physical conditions, including lifting heavy objects, climbing on equipment, and working in confined spaces
