Position Purpose

Manage the activities, processes, and staff assigned to the Business Development Department, including outside and inside sales, marketing, and media development.

 

Accountabilities and Tasks

• Manage department activities and all aspects of department operations, including processes, activities, and staff.

• Supervise activities to ensure timely and quality completion of assigned tasks.

• Review and approve bid proposals submitted by staff.

• Conduct routine one-on-one and annual performance reviews for the department staff.

• Coordinate with the Support Desk Manager, Professional Services Manager, Technology Alignment Manager, & Account Manager/vCIO to prepare bid proposals.

• Collaborate with other departments to facilitate department functions.

• Attend events in support of sales and marketing efforts to acquire new logo clients and retain existing clients.

• Coordinate with the Operations Manager to resolve client complaints and ensure the highest level of client satisfaction.

• Maintain & enforce the sales & marketing processes.

• Manage sales training and certification of department staff for relationship-based selling of products and services.

• Manage the department's standard operating procedures, processes, and policies, including the development and maintenance of the Prospective Buyers Report and the Warm 250 list. • Develop metrics to match and report to the TruPeer SMART numbers and the TruPeer Bi-Weekly Sales Activity report.

• Manage a budget for department operations, determining budgetary requirements and coordinating with accounting to monitor the department budget.

• Contribute to efficient and effective operations by holding department staff meetings as needed, attending management meetings, and providing input on operations and planning.

• Select, direct, motivate, and develop department staff, evaluating and rewarding their performance.

• Support operations as requested and needed.

• Hold safety, quality control, daily huddle, and level 10 EOS meetings with department staff as needed.

• Keep assigned areas clean and neat.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Requirements

• Three (3) years of experience in sales and client service.

• Two (2) years of experience in marketing.

• Prior experience in departmental budgeting preparation & management.

• Strong communication, organization, time management, strategic business thinking, creative thinking, business acumen & negotiation skills.

• Familiarity with sales philosophies, sales strategies, customer relationship management, and marketing tactics.

• Ability to adapt to changing market conditions and business needs.

• Ability to manage and supervise all aspects of a department.

• Three (3) years of experience in sales and customer service.

• Ability to coordinate work activities with other departments to establish priorities and schedules.
