The Specialized Recruiting Group of Olympia partnering with a local construction company in Thurston County to find their next Controller. This is a full time, permanent opportunity with a compensation ranging from $90,000k-$120,000k DOE.

 

The Controller will oversee and manage the company's comprehensive accounting operations. Responsibilities include preparing precise financial reports, maintaining accounting records, managing month-end and year-end closing processes, and ensuring adherence to regulatory standards. The Controller will collaborate closely with the president to provide financial insights that support business strategy and growth.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage daily accounting operations for the company and its various entities.
  • Ensure the accurate preparation of financial statements, including general ledger, balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Lead month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, including reconciliations and payment management.
  • Prepare and submit regulatory and tax filings in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Develop and manage the company's budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting processes.
  • Provide detailed financial analysis and insights to the executive team to support informed business decisions.
  • Supervise accounting staff, offering guidance and leadership to ensure efficient operations.
  • Assist with audits, preparing necessary documentation, and coordinating with external auditors during year-end audits.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, policies, and internal controls.
  • Monitor intercompany transactions and ensure proper resource allocation across entities.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to streamline processes and enhance financial operations.
  • Assist with the implementation and maintenance of accounting software systems (Buildertrend, QuickBooks).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CMA preferred).
  • 7+ years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Strong proficiency in accounting software, particularly Buildertrend and QuickBooks.
  • Thorough understanding of full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience in construction accounting, including job costing, work in progress, and billing.
  • Knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulatory requirements.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage teams while working collaboratively with other departments.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present financial data and insights to senior management.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work independently, with strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced and growing company environment.
