Job Full Description

Our client is seeking a dedicated and proactive Dietary Aide to join their team. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the safety, sanitation, and quality of food services provided to residents. As a Dietary Aide, you will assist with meal preparation, delivery, and cleanup, all while adhering to Washington State Health Department guidelines and the facility’s sanitation and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment, ensuring compliance with sanitation and safety standards.
  • Operate kitchen equipment and work areas in accordance with health department regulations.
  • Set up meal trays with accuracy, ensuring proper portions and quality, and deliver trays to nursing units and dining rooms.
  • Prepare and deliver special supplements and snacks to nursing units as needed.
  • Support food preparation tasks as outlined in the job activity schedule.
  • Attend team meetings and in-service training sessions as required.
  • Answer phone calls promptly and professionally in the Food & Nutrition Services Department.
  • Adjust work assignments as needed to ensure timely delivery of meal carts to residents.
  • Complete the daily cleaning checklist to maintain a hygienic kitchen and dining area.
  • Wash dishes and utensils in compliance with sanitation guidelines.
  • Demonstrate safe handling practices for all kitchen equipment and tools.
  • Report any equipment safety hazards to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Take a proactive approach to ensuring the safety and well-being of patients and the facility.
  • Demonstrate a pro-active approach to identifying and addressing patient and facility safety needs.
  • Maintain knowledge of the purpose and location of MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) information and use it as necessary.
  • Demonstrate responsibility for personal safety and patient safety through compliance with health and safety protocols.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of 6 months of previous food service experience.
  • Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practices.
  • Food Handler's Permit required (or must be obtained within 14 days of hire).
  • Ability to work efficiently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform tasks that require standing, bending, and lifting.
  • Ability to carry out tasks that may involve repetitive motion.
