Job Full Description
Our client is seeking a dedicated and proactive Dietary Aide to join their team. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the safety, sanitation, and quality of food services provided to residents. As a Dietary Aide, you will assist with meal preparation, delivery, and cleanup, all while adhering to Washington State Health Department guidelines and the facility’s sanitation and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment, ensuring compliance with sanitation and safety standards.
- Operate kitchen equipment and work areas in accordance with health department regulations.
- Set up meal trays with accuracy, ensuring proper portions and quality, and deliver trays to nursing units and dining rooms.
- Prepare and deliver special supplements and snacks to nursing units as needed.
- Support food preparation tasks as outlined in the job activity schedule.
- Attend team meetings and in-service training sessions as required.
- Answer phone calls promptly and professionally in the Food & Nutrition Services Department.
- Adjust work assignments as needed to ensure timely delivery of meal carts to residents.
- Complete the daily cleaning checklist to maintain a hygienic kitchen and dining area.
- Wash dishes and utensils in compliance with sanitation guidelines.
- Demonstrate safe handling practices for all kitchen equipment and tools.
- Report any equipment safety hazards to the appropriate supervisor.
- Take a proactive approach to ensuring the safety and well-being of patients and the facility.
- Demonstrate a pro-active approach to identifying and addressing patient and facility safety needs.
- Maintain knowledge of the purpose and location of MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) information and use it as necessary.
- Demonstrate responsibility for personal safety and patient safety through compliance with health and safety protocols.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum of 6 months of previous food service experience.
- Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practices.
- Food Handler's Permit required (or must be obtained within 14 days of hire).
- Ability to work efficiently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform tasks that require standing, bending, and lifting.
- Ability to carry out tasks that may involve repetitive motion.
