The Diesel Mechanic is responsible for performing maintenance activities on all company vehicles including but not limited to semi trucks, tractors, dry/refer trailers and RTVs.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct maintenance diagnostics and inspections on all company vehicles
- Ability to perform minor and major repairs on semi-trucks and trailers, lift gates, RTVs, Tractors and generators
- Follow preventative maintenance schedules and provide preventative maintenance recommendations
- Contribute to the implementation and sustainability of inventory and cleanliness programs
- Collaborate with major repair planning and task distribution
- Utilize software to maintain accurate records of all repairs, inspections and diagnostics performed on vehicles/equipment
- Seeks out and prescribes general process improvements and upgrades.
- Alert management on issues to prevent prolonged down time on critical equipment
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure clear communication and proper repairs
- Other related duties as assigned

Physical and Environmental Requirements
- Must be energetic and be able to work long shifts with very little sitting.
- Must be able to work in a standing position for 95% of a daily shift.
- Must be able to bend and lift, using both arms repeatedly.
- Must be able to perform tasks with arms raised above shoulder level.
- Must be able to perform tasks on low ladders.
- Must be able to work in adverse and uncomfortable weather and temperatures. This includes temperatures below freezing and temperatures above 100*F.
- Extensive physical activities including heavy lifting, up to 100lbs
- Considerable bending and kneeling.
- May be required to work in confined areas and on scaffolding or man lifts.
- Must be able to walk across uneven terrain
