Job Full Description
Express Employment Professionals has partnered with a local Steel Fabricator and is looking for an Estimator to join their team! This position will be responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates for large and complex projects based on their client’s requirements and will be providing a complete overall bid price.
Schedule: typical shifts will run Monday – Friday during regular office hours but can include weekend shifts as well.
Salary: Starting at $50k-$65k based on experience
Job Duties:
- Review and evaluate requests for estimates.
- Prepare weekly bid calendar and ensure timely completion of the estimates.
- Review estimates and revisions for completeness and accuracy.
- Review construction documents and understand scope of work to bid.
- Execute take-offs and construction documents.
- Input take-offs into computer spreadsheet.
- Obtain pricing for materials.
- Obtain bids from subcontractors.
- Prepare cost analysis in computer by summarizing material, labor, equipment, subcontractor, and overhead costs incurred in the installation of items.
- Make an estimate where predetermined standards are not available.
- Inform immediate supervisor of any observed inaccuracies or omissions in quoted items or computer database.
- Develop and maintain resource information on products, vendors, subcontractors, government requirements, etc.
- Work with management team to determine company strategy and workload capabilities.
- Create job folders.
- Attend departmental meetings as required.
Requirements:
- HS Diploma/GED
- One to two years of related experience
- Prior production familiarization/knowledge required
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Professional communication skills with a customer/client focus
- Good problem solving and technical skills
- Ability to work as part of a team
