Job Full Description
We’re looking for a Lead Machinist to join the Mill Department at a well-established company located in the Verona area.
Summary:
As a leader, you’ll blend your machining skills with the responsibility of overseeing programming, machine setup, mentoring, and department planning.
Key Responsibilities:
• Programming & Setup: Program new jobs using CAD/CAM software, revise programs for
improvement, and set up and run CNC machines.
• Training & Mentorship: Assist in training and guiding less experienced machinists, promoting best
practices across the team.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the Quality Department to optimize in-process checks and
ensure high standards are met.
• Team Leadership: Help direct workflow within the department with support from supervisors,
attending weekly meetings and collaborating on schedules.
• Process Improvement: Identify bottlenecks, develop solutions for workflow optimization, and
work toward goals of increasing tool life, enhancing part quality, and reducing run times.
• Vendor Relations: Meet with tooling vendors and applications engineers to integrate new tooling
into the shop.
• Continuous Learning: Stay updated with the latest in programming software, attending at least
one educational webinar or seminar per month.
• Job Review & Planning: Collaborate with the scheduler and key stakeholders to prepare for
upcoming jobs, reviewing job setup sheets, programs, tooling, and fixturing.
Requirements:
• Experience: Minimum 10 years of machining experience, with a strong background in CNC
programming and machine setup.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD/CAM (experience with Autodesk Fusion is a plus), with
experience in operating Haas or Fanuc controlled machines.
• Advanced Machining Knowledge: Familiarity with 4th or 5th axis machining (preferred but not
required), blueprint reading, tolerances, and general machining practices.
• Leadership & Problem-Solving: Ability to work well with others, problem solve effectively, and
guide teams in a positive and productive direction.
- Lean Manufacturing: Knowledge or experience with Lean Manufacturing principles and 5S
training is preferred, but not required.
Schedule: 1st shift
Pay: $30 -$40/hr. based on experience
