We are seeking a Drafting and Design Specialist to join the team of our client, located outside of Waunakee.
This is a direct hire opportunity
Overview:
Under the supervision of the Project Manager, the Drafting and Design Specialist is responsible for all areas in relation to designing structural and other miscellaneous projects.
The Design Specialist gathers details and compiles data to design various products and structures according to all specifications. The employee’s main responsibility is to produce designs, manufacturing-ready models, and quality drawings. The Design Specialist will possess experience with standard concepts, practices, and procedures in commercial and residential construction, product manufacturing, and product design.
Job Duties:
* Produce complete, accurate, and detailed drawings or diagrams
* Analyze and interpret blueprints and documentation to create accurate shop drawings
* Interpret construction drawings
* Use blueprints and design sketches to ensure the proper dimensions and tolerance levels of finished product
* Facilitate and resolve any design variations or issues
* Coordinate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors for changes or adjustments to drawings
* Create and check completed fabricated drawings for shop
* Present drawings and information on projects to Shop Manager/Supervisors. Answer all questions related to drawings/blueprints to ensure accuracy and reduction in reworks
* Possess familiarity with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures
* Participate in the company’s team process to develop and improve manufacturing processes and procedures for ISO 9001 certification
* Maintain work area in a clean and orderly fashion and conform to all quality standards and safety procedures
Qualifications:
*High school diploma or GED
*Associate's Degree
*Minimum 1yr experience in structural design, blueprint reading, and layout
*Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, blueprints, welding symbols, geometric tolerancing and dimensioning, welding documentation and short correspondence
*Experience working with SolidWorks or AutoCAD
