Job Full Description
Optician Technician Responsibilities:
- Conduct Eye Examinations: Perform preliminary vision tests, including visual acuity, lensometry, color vision, visual field tests, pupil assessments, and intraocular pressure measurements.
- Patient History: Take and document detailed patient histories, including medical and ocular history, symptoms, and current medications.
- Diagnostic Testing: Assist in performing advanced diagnostic tests such as optical coherence tomography (OCT), fundus photography, ultrasound, keratometry, and refractometry.
- Surgical Assistance: Prepare patients for ophthalmic surgeries, assist in minor surgical procedures, and manage post-operative care under the supervision of the ophthalmologist.
- Equipment Maintenance: Calibrate, clean, and maintain ophthalmic equipment to ensure it operates correctly.
Optician Technician Requirements:
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- An optometric technician certification is a plus, but not required.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Self-motivation, and ability to work under pressure.
