Job Overview:
The Grinder Operator is responsible for converting turned bars of varying lengths into ground bars by operating centerless grinders and performing secondary operations using a drill press. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that materials meet quality and precision standards in a manufacturing or machining environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate centerless grinders to convert turned bars into ground bars, ensuring consistency in diameter and surface finish.
- Perform precision grinding of metal bars to specified dimensions and tolerances.
- Operate drill press equipment for secondary operations as needed.
- Inspect and measure materials using calipers, micrometers, and other precision tools to ensure accuracy and quality standards.
- Monitor machine performance and make necessary adjustments to maintain operational efficiency.
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area.
- Perform routine maintenance on grinding equipment and ensure proper operation of the drill press.
- Troubleshoot issues with grinding processes and collaborate with maintenance personnel for repairs or adjustments.
- Document production data, including quantities produced and any quality concerns.
- Adhere to company policies, including safety, quality, and productivity standards.
