COVID-19 Announcement from Express Employment Professionals

  • COVID-19 Announcement

    Cowlitz County, WA - March 17, 2020
We at Cowlitz County Express are business as usual with a few changes I have implemented to keep our staff and employees safe. Our Woodland location has been closed temporarily and we have closed the lobby in our Longview office to an appt. only basis. We are doing everything we can by phone and email including new hire interviews. If you need to contact us, phone is the best method. We are still in the Longview office 8am-5pm.

The lobby in Longview will be open for paycheck pick up on Friday but you will be asked to use hand sanitizer upon entry so please don't take offense. Our restrooms have been closed for use to prevent entry into the back office area.

    What is the coronavirus?

According to the world health community, the coronavirus is a contagious respiratory illness that originated in Wuhan, China, and could prove fatal to susceptible populations. As of March 2, 2020 the mortality rate for the virus is less than 3%, with the vast majority of those affected surviving the disease. Those over the age of 40 or with weakened immune systems are most vulnerable to serious illness from the virus.

    Best practices to prevent exposure.

During this time of year when illnesses such as flu or colds are common, taking precautions to stay healthy is important. Since there is no current vaccine, some of the best ways to prevent exposure to the coronavirus include:

    • Wash your hands often with soap and warm or hot water for at least 20 seconds; use hand sanitizer when hand washing is not an option
    • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands
    • Avoid close contact with people who are sick and reduce interactions such as handshakes with others
    • Stay home when you are sick
    • Cough or sneeze into a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash
    • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces with products proven to kill other strains of coronaviruses

We recommend if you are calling off work please communicate with us the reason you are calling off, child care, doctor appt. etc. If you have sick pay available it is your choice when to use it we don't require that you are sick. If you call off sick there may be additional measures to get you back on the job site so honesty is the best policy here. We also recommend you save your sick pay in the event there is a company closure so you have it available to use or in the event that you truly are sick. With that being said; if you are sick, coughing fever etc. by all means, do not go to work and always contact Express prior to the start of your shift.

If you have concerns or questions about the information above, please contact your Express representative immediately.
