  • What is ISO

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is a non-governmental body headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. It was established in 1947 to promote International standardization. Standards organizations from different countries around the world, such as the American National Standards Institute (ANSI-ANAB), Standards Council of Canada (SCC), and the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS), are contributing members of ISO, sending representatives to help establish standards that are in each country’s best interest. To date, the International Organization for Standardization has published over 16,500 standards. Standards have been created for agriculture, construction, mechanical engineering, manufacturing and distribution, transport, medical devices, environment, safety, information and communication technologies. ISO Standards have also been created for good practices and for services.
